I don't know about you... but I tend to get a little contemplative at the end of every year. Another year gone, so much things that happened. Characteristic of this year I found that almost not a day went by without being smashed in the face by all these messages: "We gotta save the planet!", "Save those poor animals", "Eat vegan", "Stop flying everywhere", "Make sure that you have consensual sex". That's why I designed this virtual christmas card with a twist.
I already knew I wanted to do something in the same vein as the polar bears by my great hero René Gruau (see below). But nowadays I can't think of Polar bears without thinking 'global warming' so that i s what I drew. My polar bear is - as usual - the embodiment of the environment. The woman in the frivolous outfit is of course today's society that thinks that 5 minutes to twelve is the same as party time. Woman and polar bear are engaged in a sort of dance to keep the balance on the ever thawing ice floe. The form is quite hyperbolical but you'll have to see for yourself how much truth there is in the joke ;)
Two holiday images by the master himself: René Gruau.
